Marketing Communication offers a general education in humanities and skills in communication and analysis that are essential in most careers.
Marketing communication is an interdisciplinary major that combines the concepts and theories of Marketing and Communication Science, and integrates the activities of advertising, public relations, broadcasting, sales promotion, direct marketing, personal selling and cybermarketing into a single professional field of expertise. Students will develop knowledge and skills in oral, written and visual modes of communication.
A major in Marketing Communication prepares a student for work in communications, public relations, government and public service, sales, publishing, journalism, advertising, education, and business.
Located at the Syahdan campus, the Marketing Communication department is under the scope of the BINUS UNIVERSITY’s Multimedia and Communication Faculty. This relatively new department was formed in February 2006, and lectures began in September 2007. Currently there are approximately 900 students enrolled in the program.
Students are allowed to choose their own study topics based on their own interests when they enter the fifth semester. It is the hope that the department can serve as a cornerstone in the development of humanistic communication in BINUS UNIVERSITY and contribute positively to the society as a whole.
Practical experience with current technology tools and internship programs ensure that students have not only strong academic preparation, but also practical experience in marketing communications activities. To ensure qualified graduates, the curriculum will be supported by a television and radio broadcasting laboratory which will be established at the Anggrek Campus.
The Marketing Communication major allows students to understand how and why communication should work, and communicate effectively in written, visual, and oral modes. Students will also learn to create or manage effective Integrated Marketing Communications programs.
By learning to adapt to the world’s changing communication needs, students will be prepared with the wide variety of skills and experiences necessary to be a successful Marketing Communications professional.
